A Better Lens at Spanish Football

Barca were favourites until they went to the San Siro and lost 2-0 to an AC Milan side who weren’t expected to go close in the Champions League this season.

Tito Vilanova’s side are now the underdogs to qualify for the quarter final stage of the competition, although there are several reasons to think they can make it past the Rossoneri.

1) Barcelona are still the best team in Europe

The Catalan side are eleven points clear of Atletico Madrid in the league table and a further two clear of Real, with another league title all but secured. They have several Spanish internationals that helped La Roja win Euro 2012 as well as the 2010 World Cup – we can expect them to come good when required.

2) Lionel Messi can help turn the game on its head

If there was a way of stopping Messi, it would have been discovered by now. The forward might have drawn a blank against Milan, although he should enjoy himself in the second leg against the Italian side. The 25-year-old has an incredible 46 goals for the season and the game at the San Siro was the only one of the last six where he has failed to find the net.

3) Barcelona’s home form is outstanding

Barca looked nailed-on to claim victory and it’s just a question of whether they can win by a two-goal margin or even bigger. Eleven wins from twelve home games suggest that won’t be a problem for Vilanova’s team who have scored 42 goals in those dozen encounters. An early goal will settle the nerves at the Nou Camp and put Milan on the back foot.

4) Milan aren’t actually that good

There was an element of controversy surrounding Milan’s opener in the first leg and we should remember that Mario Balotelli is cup-tied for the encounter which robs the Serie A side of their best attacking player. Away form of four wins, six draws and three defeats hints at a team that stumble on the road and they rarely keep a clean sheet.

5 reasons why milan can knock out barcelona:

    1. barca`s coach is roura who is neither pep nor tito.
since roura stepped in to coach barca their performance is going downward in all competitions.

    2. barca`s defense is one of the worst among CL teams.
so if milan score 1 goal (which is really possible) in nou camp it is all finished

    3. in the first leg milan won 2-0
this will add more pressure on barca players while milan players will be more relaxed and more organised in the defense.

    4. milan have not lost yet in 2013 (won:7 draw:4) this will give milan players another boost not to let this chance slip away

    5. messi always suffers against italian teams.
he scored only 2 penalties and 2 assists in 9 matches against italian teams. so if messi is absent half of barca`s attacking power will be absent too and that what happened in the first leg in san siro 2 weeks ago.

    FORZA MILAN…

Its sad that ForzaFutbol is speaking like Barcelona’s defence is very solid. “..it’s just a question of whether they can win by a two-goal margin or even bigger” That statement is quite naive to say the least. To act so sure that barca will keep a clean sheet when they are so vulnerable to counter attacks is silly.

Milan aren’t actually that good?? Do you even watch them. If by good you mean they doint have the fancy skills of barca, yes. But they stifled Barca in the 1st leg. Not a single meaningful chance. The same Barca beaten by a 2nd string Madrid. Milan will prove to be tactically way ahead of Barca. You prove a lot of foolishness saying they are not that good.

And saying Milan rarely keep a clean sheet. Have you looked at Barca??

Milan will go through, like in their History if they can’t win on field, they will bribe officials, send them money and gifts, and cheat.
