A Better Lens at Spanish Football

The fate of both teams has been sealed, Los Che qualified for next round of the CL where Lille is out of both the CL and even the EL. This match almost means nothing for both sides, but it can be a battle of pride. Valencia is now 2nd in Group F with the same points as Bayern Munich. This match may help them to secure the top spot of the group. On the other hand, Lille has no hope as Bate has more points than them and an away goal advantage. So both teams may deploy their reserve teams for the match.

Lille has not impressed this season at all. They are struggling in both the French League and the Champions League. The same old story is that they sold their stars and did not get proper replacements.  So their mediocre squad has not provided anything more than mediocre football. They are 10th in the French League and last in the CL.

The current situation of Los Che is even more painful. They are playing awful in La Liga and have suffered two heavy defeats recently, sitting in 11th spot. This situation has caused them the immediate sacking of Pellegrino. Former Espanyol, Villarreal and Olympiakos coach, Ernesto Valverde is now their new manager. Tension and fear is all over the Los Che camp. Players are broken mentally and fans are getting tired of the mess. They have not won any away match since March of 2012. So this team needs a huge recovery to get back on the right track.

As I have said this match almost means nothing for both teams. Still both teams will try to get a win and get some momentum for their next matches. I think Lille is going to win here, 2 for Lille and 0 for Valencia.
