Spain U21 Callups ~ Euro 2013

One of my favorite things to do during International Week is to watch La Rojita play.  It’s a chance to see the few stars of La Liga and La Selección. La Rojita is in the midst of qualifying for Euro 2013, as well as getting ready for the Olympics this summer.  Thiago returns to help out the U21s from the first team, while Pablo Sarabia and Marc Muniesa have been ‘promoted’ from the U19s and brand spanking new to the current team is Isaac Cuenca with his first call up.

Without further ado, here’s Luis Milla’s squad:

Goalkeepers: David de Gea (Manchester United), Diego Mariño (Villarreal).

Defenders: Martín Montoya (Barça), Marc Bartra (Barça), Marc Muniesa (Barça), Carles Planas (Barça), Hugo Mallo (Celta Vigo), Jordi Amat (Espanyol), Iñigo Martínez (Real Sociedad).

Midfielders: Koke Resurrección (Atlético Madrid), Thiago (Barça), Isaac Cuenca (Barça), Oriol Romeu (Chelsea), Pablo Sarabia (Getafe), Isco (Málaga), Asier Illarramendi (Real Sociedad), Juan Carlos López (Real Zaragoza).

Forwards: Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao), Rodrigo (Benfica), Álvaro Vázquez (Espanyol).

The team will face Estonia on November 10th in Melilla, Spain and Switzerland on November 14th in Córdoba.

Not a bad squad eh? The majority of the boys are getting first team action in their respective squads or in the B team’s playing in Second division.  The future looks bright.
